Welcome to the Endometriosis HELP Pages
Endometriosis can be a distressing disease affecting women's health. It can cause the most excruciating pain and in some women it appears to trigger fertility or infertility problems. Whether all the symptoms are caused by endometriosis or they originate from a dreadfully ill body, trying to stay well, surviving the symptoms, becomes a task in itself. Your body wants to be well as that is its natural state. Every body system depends upon the nutrients getting into each cell of the body in order for them to work efficiently. Endometriosis is systemic; it affects every part of the body not just the gynaecolgical organs, though period pain is a common symptom allong with irregular periods. You feel ill all over, dreadful fatigue can rule life and the digestive system involvement can trigger bloating, boats of constipation or diarrohea, abdominal pain and bladder problems. This is indicative of a disease which is affecting the whole body, not just the reproductive organs. The main symptoms of endometriosis can be painful periods (dysmenorrhea), painful intercourse (dyspareunia), painful ovulation, heavy periods often lasting for many days, PMS, there is an increased risk of infertility or as I prefer to call it sub-fertility.
At the Endometriosis and Fertility Clinic we help women with endometriosis combat their symptoms through nutrition. We support the immune system and ensure that you are eating the correct foods to balance your hormones and to get your inflammation under control.
We hope that you will find information in these pages useful. Please travel through these pages to find ideas which may work for you.
Lecture on Wednesday the 6th of March 2013 the talk was at the NutriCentre and
you will be able to watch it a week later online.
Dian's talk was on Period Pain and for the Endometriosis SHE Trust.
Many women experience period cramps, mild pains requiring perhaps the odd paracetamol. Other women have
severe, disabling period pains, along with abdominal bloating/distention and bowel problems, which require
strong painkillers. We will look at how the body controls pain and which nutrients are involved in pain
reduction, and which foods can help to prevent PMS symptoms like breast tenderness, irritability and
tiredness. We will talk about the many causes of period pains, fibroids, adenomyosis and endometriosis.
Dian will discuss which foods help the body to reduce inflammation and control uterine cramps. A healthy
reproductive hormone system depends upon the way the liver and digestive system work. Dian will help you
to discover ways to improve your health and decrease the period pains.

Dian's talk at the NutriCentre is on fertility or sub-fertility.
Nowadays 1:6 couples struggle with infertility; it can be heartbreaking for those with endometriosis, PCOS,
low sperm count and unexplained infertility. Our Edwardian great-grandmothers gave birth to ten to eighteen
babies! What was their secret to being so fertile? Birth control, fast food and pesticides were unheard of
in those days. People ate a traditional seasonal nutrient rich diet, lives were less manic, and women were
fit from walking and housework. The ovaries, testes and uterus depend upon nutrients to make new cells and
tissues, and getting those vital nutrients into the developing ova, sperm, blastocyst, embryo is crucial.
Research shows that if the mother is eating a low protein diet from day 1 to day 20 after conception the
babies heart cannot develop adequately and the child develops heart disease in later life. Having a healthy
baby that grows into a healthy adult is important. Both mother and father need to be healthy from at least
3 months before conception. We will look at research on nutrition, endometriosis and fertility to investigate
what you can do to improve your reproductive health.
